The eternal debate when it comes to high definition televisions is which are better, Plasma HDTV televisions or LCDs. A debate that has been showing everywhere including forums, blogs and social media networks. When it comes to market share, LCD HDTVs are the winners. Most stores at the moment have reduced to amount of Plasma sets to a minimum and some brands have stopped creating Plasma sets entirely. The true question is should you buy an LCD HDTV television of should you buy a Plasma tv?

There are many reasons why LCDs are more popular. The common reasons that have lead buyers to prefer them over other types of HDTVs are very appealing even with the fact that the quality of the image in Plasma tvs is superior for the most part compared to that of an LCD high definition television set. LCD HDTV televisions are very light compared to other sets. Not only they light enough to be mountable on a wall, they are also very slim. A set that is mounted on a wall takes a lot less space inside a room than a set that is sitting on a table or even in any home theater furniture. They are very energy efficient compared to other types of HDTVs. A Plasma set may require up to triple the amount of electricity than an LCD HDTV of the same size needs to operate.

Saving energy to eventually save money has become somehow a norm in many homes due to the ever increasing utility costs which has lead many consumers to prefer devices that consume less energy. Are energy consumption and room space the only things that consumers find good about LCD televisions? The answer is no. LCDs deliver the high quality images that you would expect from and HDTV including crisp detail and high fidelity sound. They have bright colors that contrary to Plasma and CRTs, do not fade away with time making them very durable and reliable.

The what are the cons of LCD HDTVs?

One of the things that can turn people away from these HDTVs is that many models have a slow refresh rate. When refresh rates are slow, fast moving objects tend to look blurry. Something that has bothered sports enthusiasts and gamers for quite a few years. It is worth mentioning that refresh rates have been improving as this technology continues to mature but the effects can be seen in older models and in low quality units that are manufactured by unrecognized brands.

Sometimes, due to how this technology functions some pixels stop functioning and become what is known as dead pixels. High quality LCD televisions give a great overall performance and are very reliable requiring less care that other types of sets. This makes them a great investment for your home. However, like mentioned before it is very important to pick a televisionfrom a trusted brand.

There are two kinds of High-Definition TV; the HD Ready and the full HDTV. The HD Ready TV’s are televisions which can accept and display high-definition of pictures through high-definition signals. The hd high-definition signals that an HD Ready TV can receive are usually at 1080i, 1080p or 720p which may only be displayed if a digital input or component video is used. Moreover, an HD Ready TV does not have an HD-capable tuner built in its system. Full HD TV on the other hand, is a television display technology that exceeds the sharpness and video quality of the original technology of High-Definition TV as it has the capacity to provide 1920×1080 pixel of image resolution. The original technology of an HDTV offers only a vertical resolution ranging from 720p to 1080i.

The second thing one needs to consider is the type of display. There are four types of display for HDTV; LCD, Plasma, CRT and DLP but the most popular are the LCD and the Plasma. LCD means Liquid Crystal Display. In the past, it was too hard for manufacturers to create LCD display that is more than 40 inches but nowadays, one may see HD Ready LCD TV and Full HDLCD TV up to 56 inches wide when measured diagonally. Another type of HDTV Display is the so called plasma which is generally equated with HDTV. The most common type that one will usually see in the market is the Full HD Plasma TV. Full HD Plasma TV is known for its excellent color and picture and it is also a perfect choice if you like watching TV in a dark room however, if you plan to place your TV in bright places with sufficient source of light, you’d better not pick this type.

How does high-definition compare to standard definition television systems?

Many people have been asking about the difference between a high-definition and a standard-definition TV. The signal an HD High Definition TV can have is five time more than the standard one. Moreover, the pictures a standard definition TV can display is only around 500-600 pixels while a High-Definition TV can display at least 700-1000 pixels. Aside from that, the support for windscreen formats and multi-channel sound a High-Definition TV broadcasts is much better than a standard one.

What High-Definition Resolutions are Available?

There are two High-Definition resolutions available for high-definition resolution. These are the HD720 and HD1080. An HD720 contains 720 lines while an HD1080 contains 1080.

Where Can I Get High-Definition Content to Watch?

In UK and in US, some service providers now offer the High-Definition channels and programming delivered through satellite, over-the-air and through cable. Some may still not offer this service and in case such as this one, you may use some gaming consoles that support high-definition gaming and enjoy this for the moment. This is the reason why it is recommended that you ask your service provider first whether they offer HD channels and programming before you purchase High-definition TV.

Since the advent of the High-Definition TV, many stores have already acquired these TV sets to be sold to those who would like to have a revolutionary entertainment viewing experience. Big stores in UK such as Aldi and Apple Store now offer these sets. You may also find online stores that deliver within UK and they offer the same type at great deals. Appliance stores in US also now offer High-Definition TV to all people who would like to upgrade their television set. You may now find this type of TV sets at leading appliance stores in US such as Target and Sears.

With High-Definition TV, the journey from an analog TV realm to a highly digital one has indeed begun and with the improvement the HDTV gives to the used-to-be entertainment routine we have will surely affect each one of us who have made watching TV a part of our daily lives.

When my friends and family began to get these new televisions and rave about them to me, I firmly held my ground. Soon I saw these 1080p or Full HD TV televisions in the news, but I still wasn’t swayed. It wasn’t until I finally had a chance to see one of these televisions in action that my opinion changed. Not only was I amazed at the quality of the picture, but the quality of my viewing experience as well.

The draw of a is that it takes you, the viewer, as close to the experience you are watching without being there. The difference between a Full HD television and your typical standard HD ready set is that a Full HD set has more lines of pixels, increasing picture quality. Because of this, the viewer does more then just watches the screen, they are immersed in it. Watching a baseball game, you feel like you are sitting at the stadium, looking at the crisp uniforms, the green grass, deep blue sky.

There is not one moment when you are unable to see the ball in play, no moment where your eyes lose it in the background. Those same qualities can be seen when watching movies, when the quality of the movie is not compromised from watching it in your living room, as opposed to a theatre. In addition to movies and sports, the quality and enjoyment of gaming needs to be addressed. Both the XBOX 360 and the Sony Playstation 3 are compatible with the 1080p set. Many gamers will only play these next generation systems on these next generation televisions because of the capacity of the Full HD TVs to show everything that is going on at once. In all cases, the television watching experience is far more enjoyable.

Are you interesting in buying the latest and best HDTV 1080p television sets? Buying a 1080p TV HDTV set may seem like the best option technology wise, however price wise, 1080p still is expensive. As you read this article, you will discover how to get the best deals when you buy a 1080p TV HDTV set.

In this article you will discover these hints, tips, and tricks, and by time you read every word of this article, you will know how to get the best deals on HDTV 1080p:
* Why get the best deals?
* How to get the best deals?
* Next steps to successfully finding and buying a 1080p TV HDTV set at the best prices

* Why get the best deals?
It may seem like an obvious thing, why you would want to get the best deals. However, let us look at them deeper. Predominantly you want to get the best deal because of the savings that you can make.

Imagine saving $100, $200 or more. These kinds of savings are amazing, considering that if you didn’t find them, you would in fact have to pay that extra. You don’t have to stop on the savings. In fact you may find that these savings allow you to spend more on a 1080p HDTV which is perhaps bigger and better, with more features, better image quality, and sound.

* How to get the best deals?
The easiest process that most people do, is to go to a local store selling 1080p high definition televisions, perhaps this is the place where you purchased your last television from. It is a simple process, and you go and buy. However, this doesn’t allow present the best option – unless you really did research to find this store.

An alternative that you may do is to look at several stores that sell 1080p high definition television sets. This would allow you to compare prices, and then select the place that offers the best price. This can make some savings, and the time you spend in researching may be well worth your time, however, there are even better options.

Everyone knows that to get the best prices, you need to go online. This is not always true, but so far in all the years of shopping online and offline, I have to agree that online can be much cheaper. And you also have the benefit of getting the 1080p high definition television delivered to your home.

* Next steps to successfully finding and buying a 1080p TV HDTV set at the best prices

The key to getting a bargain when buying a 1080p high definition television set is to do research. The more you can invest in research, the more likely you are to save. However there are limits. For example searching 10 online and offline stores is pretty much going over the top!

Back in the day, when there were only analog TVs around, picking out your own set was a much less intimidating affair than it is today. Technology has gotten more complicated; today’s HD TV sets are much slicker and sleeker than their tube TV counterparts. They come packed with featuressurround sound, pc compatibility, digital tuners, etc. For even the most technically adept, choosing the right TV is difficult. You have to wade through a quagmire of marketing hype, jargon and tech talk. You have to consider why you want a new TV, and of course, how high are you willing to go?

In the end, HD simply means a better picture. There are some important requirements to consider before you buy. Here’s a guide to the four different types of HD TV sets on the market today.

Direct View CRT: This is the TV we all know and love; it’s the type we grew up with. It’s the grand daddy of them all. Most of these are standard definition, although an increasing number are HD. However, without doubt, the tube TV is a dying breed. By federal law they are required to come equipped with digital tuners to receive DTV stations over the air, but the picture isn’t anything near what you would get with more modern HD TV sets. Direct-view TVs are also much bulkier and heavier than LCD’s and plasmas. Most stores don’t keep a large stock of tube TVs so you’re not likely to find much variety. The upside is that these are relatively cheap. So if you’re on tight budget, this would be your most economical choice. That being said, if you have more financial leeway, it’s better to invest in more modern technology.

Flat Panel LCD: These have revolutionized the TV industry. Flat screens can be hung on your wall like pieces of art, they can go above your mantelpiece or you can simply set them on a stand and enjoy the pristine sleekness of the form. Flat LCDs (liquid crystal display) are quite popular given their widespread availability and their competitive pricing. You can find 42 inch flat panel LCDs for around $700 these days. LCDs are also used as computer monitors. Their matte screens reflect less light than plasma screens, which means there is less danger of burn-in (which occurs when an image is etched permanently into the screen). LCDs are known for poor quality black levels as they use a backlight for illumination and there’s usually some light leak through the pixels.

Plasma Screens: These are known for their extremely top notch picture quality, with deep black levels and great color. Motion resolution is better than LCDs, however, you could argue that the difference is barely perceptible. Plasma screens are priced similarly to LCDs, however larger sized plasmas are generally less expensive than similarly sized LCDs. Plasmas are however, less energy efficient and they do tend to suffer from image burn-in.

Rear Projection TVs: Finally, we have the rear projection variety, which seem to offer the best price for larger screens. RPTVs use DLP technology or microchips. Within the set, light bounces off the chip via an internal lamp to produce color on the screen. These lamps must be replaced periodically; also, they take around 20 seconds to warm up and cool down which means the screen is completely dark for this phase. RPTVs are only manufactured by a handful of companies.

Plasma and LCD televisions are the two most popular types of HD televisions. However, there is a third type which you can consider, as well, when shopping for an HDTV – the rear projection HDTV. Compared to front projection televisions, rear projection televisions consist of only one piece of equipment since they use built-in projectors to display images on the back of the screen.

Rear projection televisions used to be only CRT-based. In the past few years, though, LCD, LCoS and DLP rear projection technologies have emerged, which are all far superior in terms of picture quality and size. DLP televisions, which use a Digital Micromirror Device to display images, are considered the best of them all, and are therefore, usually the ones referred to when discussing the rear projection HDTV.

Indeed, the rear projection HDTV delivers great images, which it owes to several factors – its excellent contrast ratio, its impeccable shadow detail and most importantly, its outstanding color reproduction. In fact, the color quality offered by rear projection televisions comes very close to that of CRT televisions, and is particularly evident in the black levels, which appear as deep as can be, or even absolute.

Other great things about rear projection televisions is that they have very bright panels and are relatively easy to repair. They do not suffer from screen burn-in, as well, like Plasma televisions, nor do they suffer from the poor viewing angle and slow response time of LCD TVs. In fact, rear projection HDTVs have very fast response times, resulting in images that appear crisp and clear even when in motion.

LCD televisions have the upper edge in terms of longevity, though. While both rear projection and LCD televisions have a lamp-based technology and can last as long as their light does, the backlight of an LCD can last for up to 60,000 hours or more than seven years, and even longer in the case of LED backlighting. In comparison, the lamps of a rear projection television can only last 8,000 hours at most, which is even less than a year, which means you will need to replace the lamps often which can sum up to a hefty expense in the long run.

While rear projection TVs do not suffer from burn-in, they also have their own anomaly, which is called the rainbow effect. This means that there are times when you will see shadows of separate colors on the screen instead of a single, solid color, particularly in situations where white objects are set against a dark background. These shadows often appear in red, blue and green, although not everyone can see them.

The rear projection HDTV has other weak points, as well, such as its relatively high energy consumption and the occurrence of dead pixels or pixels which remain constant and unlit. The cooling fans and the color wheel can be noisy, too. Although rear projection televisions are much slimmer and lighter than they used to be, they are still bulky compared to LCD and Plasma televisions and are therefore, difficult to mount on the wall – something which many people like to do with their HDTV.

So, should you buy a rear projection HDTV? Now that you know how it works and what its pros and cons are, you should be able to answer this question more easily. If not, it’s alright. Just take your time deciding. After all, what is important is that you get the right type of HDTV of your home – whether it is a Plasma, LCD or rear projection HDTV.

Over the years, televisions have become an important part of people’s lives, if not a necessity in every home. They have been considered as status symbols, as well. Therefore, it is equally important to make sure you get the right TV for your home by weighing the pros and cons of each type, starting with the HDTV LCD TV.

An HDTV LCD TV has several great qualities, one of which is the fact that it can easily be moved around because of its light weight. It is also thin since it uses a flat panel display, which makes it even easier to mount on the wall like any other painting you have in your house. If you do, you can easily hide the connections inside the wall, too, making it look more neat and attractive.

Do you plan to use your HDTV as a computer monitor? Do you like playing video games? If you answered yes to any of these, you might want to get an LCD TV. An LCD TV is an excellent computer monitor since it delivers static images in full color detail and without the risk of screen burn-in. It is also a good template for gaming since it can display more pixels per square inch than any other.

LCD televisions also save you more money, not necessarily because they come with a cheaper price tag – in fact, the prices of LCD and Plasma TVs are pretty much the same these days – but because they consume less electricity. In fact, they consume only half the power that most Plasma TVs use up since they come with a fluorescent or even LED backlight. Even though newer Plasma TV models have energy-saving features, LCD TVs still reign in terms of energy consumption.

Aside from these, HDTV LCD televisions are also less fragile than Plasma TVs. They last longer, too – as long as the backlight lasts, which can even be replaced, maintaining the picture quality until the very last second. On the other hand, Plasma TVs may last as long but its screen display tends to become dimmer with time. LCD televisions have non-reflective screens, as well, so you won’t get distracted by your own reflection or that of any other while watching.

These are just some of the pros of an HDTV LCD TV. As for the cons, one point which goes against HDTV LCD televisions is that its viewing angle is not wide enough, even if it has improved in the past few years. This means that you have to be directly in front of the screen or somewhere close. If not, you might not be able to see the images as clearly.

Another problem with LCD televisions is that they have a slow refresh rate, resulting in images that get blurry during a fast motion sequence, such as a car chase or a fast-moving sports scene. LCD TVs also fail to create deep blacks in spite of its ability to produce very bright whites. In fact, the colors on most LCD TV screens, with the exception of those with LED backlighting, are less accurate than those of Plasma TVs, especially in environments that are not well lit.

Now that you know the pros and cons of an HDTV LCD TV, it is up to you to decide whether you want one or not. Don’t forget to look into the pros and cons of other types, too, though, so you can make a better decision. In fact, take your time until you’re sure about what TV you need and want so you won’t have a single regret and plenty of new reasons to enjoy watching TV.

The plasma flat screen television was invented in the 1960s, and although it made a brief appearance in the market in the 70s, it did not quite catch on. Nowadays, the plasma flat screen television is defining what a home theatre should be, and most people who pride themselves on having a fine home theatre own a plasma flat screen television along with other high-tech innovations, such as surround sound speakers. The plasma flat screen television truly gives one the feeling of sitting in the cinema, and, if mounted on the wall, it can save a lot of space. Although the price was once out of the range of the average consumers, plasma flat screen televisions are slowly moving into the range of affordability.

A plasma flat screen television uses technology that is quite different from the typical cathode ray television. Neon and Xenon gases move between two flat panel glasses. These are inert gases and are not dangerous. The result is amazing color; the typical plasma flat screen television produces 16 million unique colors and provides great contrast between dark and light. The screen has a ‘perfect black’ that gives it a cinematic feel. Although the plasma flat screen television is much larger than the conventional television, with all of its devices, it is usually no more than four inches thick. This allows one to install a plasma flat screen television on the wall to save space.

Although the cost of a plasma flat screen television keeps decreasing, you should take into account the amount of power these televisions can use when you figure out the cost in real terms. While there are many energy-efficient models, a larger plasma flat screen television uses a lot of electricity. However the technology of the plasma TV is being developed and improved constantly, and, before long, using a plasma TV will conserve energy.

One advantage to the plasma flat screen television is that it has a relatively long life; the typical set has 60,000 hours to half life (half-life occurs when the screen quality is reduced by half). When you purchase your plasma flat screen television, ensure that you have an excellent warrantee and that you can have it serviced for free or at a low cost.

One thing to be aware of with your plasma flat screened television is that it is quite delicate, and the slightest bump can cause problems. For instance, if a child throws a ball at the screen, hundreds of individual tubes can lose their ability to glow, and repair for this is expensive, if it is possible. It is therefore a good idea for parents to install their plasma flat screened television so that it is high enough to avoid such interference (and don’t let your kids play ball in the TV room!). There are tilt wall mounts that allow you to install your plasma flat screened television at an angle if you store it high.

Along with the plasma flat-screened television, you can purchase plasma furniture or special cabinets and stands for your plasma television. If you prefer the classic, hardwood look, there are home entertainment cabinets specially designed to hold plasma flat screened televisions along with other equipment. For a more contemporary look, you can find metallic curved stands with simple glass shelves or just a short stand to place on top of an existing cabinet or table.

An important tip to keep in mind when choosing plasma flat screened television furniture and supplies is that they should be well-tested for sturdiness, since a plasma TV cannot handle a bump, much less, a complete fall. Make sure that all surfaces and mounts are sturdy enough to hold your set or more weight, just to be on the safe side.
