Should You Buy Plasma Screen Tv Or Lcd Screen Tv

high definition TV Ever since the concept of high definition TV or HDTV has been introduced, buyers have been plagued by this question. Should you buy a plasma screen TV or LCD screen TV? Before we get into that let us understand, what plasma screen TV is and what LCS screen TV is. Once we know each of them, then we will be able to decide, which one to buy, plasma screen TV or LCD screen TV.

Plasma TV screens are made up of inert gases, which when heated produce colors and hence pictures. LCD screens on other hand are made up of liquid crystals, which are heated to produce pictures on the TV screen. Plasma screens and LCD screens are both flat and are HDTV compatible. Now comes the real question, which one to buy, plasma screen TV or LCD TV.

There are a number of things which turn in favor of plasma TV, which also tell you, why one should buy a plasma screen TV. First such factor is size. If you take size as factor, then plasma screen TVs offer more screen space than LCD TVs. A 50 inch plasma TV will cost around $900, whereas an LCD TV of similar size will cost you nothing less than $1500. This is the first reason to buy a plasma screen TV. Another advantage of buying plasma screen TVs over LCDs is, plasma TVs are equipped to display faster pictures in better quality than LCDs. If you buy used plasma TVs, then nothing could beat the price factor.

Now you cannot say that you it really does not make any difference. The thing is, most of the movies, TV programs are full of high speed images, and if you truly want to enjoy each and every frame of such high speed motion pictures, then buying a plasma screen TV is a good idea.

Plasma TvTechnological Aspects

When placed in a lowly lit room, a plasma screen TV offers better picture quality then a LCD TV, primarily because of the picture producing technologies. Plasma TVs are better in handling dark pictures and offer much better contrast ratio compared to LCD TVs. This is one of the reasons why you should buy plasma screen TV if you are planning to install it in your lounge or a room which is dimly lit. Both technologies have their own set of pro’s and con’s. The only thing which should affect your decision is your budget and your choice.
